Michael W. Choren
Mike and I met in the early 90’s at a trade association meeting. I remember being very impressed with Mike’s professionalism and class. Never has a first impression been so “right on”.

Over the next five or six years, Mike and I had occasion to see each other in the field and even collaborated on a couple projects. It was then that we developed a mutual respect for each other’s abilities and discovered that we had similar business philosophies.

It seemed only natural that in early 1999, when Mike began considering a career move, that we found ourselves sitting over lunch discussing the possibility of his joining Core-Rosion Products. Although we didn’t have an open territory at the time, I knew that we could find a way to create a home for a person of Mike’s caliber, and we did.

Over the next seven years, Mike nurtured his new territory and became a top producer for Core-Rosion Products. His customers considered him a trusted advisor and a friend. And the manufacturers we represent recognized him as a rare sales professional.

During the last several years, Mike and I made “brown bag” luncheon presentations to most of the consulting engineers in his territory. Mike would always take the first five minutes to say hello, provide an overview of our presentation, and then introduce me. To say that Mike was a tough act to follow is an understatement of dramatic proportions. Mike’s eloquence and radio voice captivated his audience like no one I have ever worked with.

Mike’s success wasn’t limited to his chosen profession of industrial sales. Mike was a dedicated husband to his wonderful wife Kathy and a true friend to those who had the honor to call him friend.

Mike was a spiritual man whose strength throughout his battle with cancer was an inspiration to me and everyone familiar with his situation. Each time I spoke with Mike or visited with him, he always talked about his imminent recovery and of his return to work. Mike never gave up hope and never lost his will to fight, never.

One of the measures of a man is the impact he has had on the lives of those around him. I am a better person for having known Mike and witnessed the positive impact he had on our entire organization.

I will miss him,

Steve Ireland
